Atomos have now made available support for RAW over HDMI, bringing revolutionary content creation capabilities to the award-winning Ninja V monitor-recorder when combined with a Nikon Z6 or Z7 camera. Users are now empowered with 12-bit 4K UHD or Full-HD ProRes RAW recording directly from their Nikon camera sensor.

Atomos Ninja V users can now update to AtomOS 10.2 to enable RAW recording over HDMI from supported cameras. This release coincides with Nikon’s launch of a service program for their popular Z series cameras to install RAW video output functionality. This combined Atomos and Nikon announcement is a world’s first for RAW video recording over HDMI and has been greatly anticipated since planned support was announced early this year.

Creators are granted complete creative control of their video images in post-production as ProRes RAW combines the flexibility of RAW video with the real-time performance ProRes video workflows offer.

ProRes RAW is fully supported in Final Cut Pro X, with Adobe and Avid having both announced that Premiere Pro and Media Composer will support ProRes RAW in 2020. A collection of other applications including ASSIMILATE SCRATCH, Colorfront, FilmLight Baselight and Grass Valley Edius already support the ProRes RAW format.

Please watch the following setup video for information about the configuration between the Atomos Ninja V  and Nikon Z Series cameras. It is important to note that an Atomos AtomFlex 4K HDMI 2.0 cable is required for RAW over HDMI support. This relates to part numbers ATOM4K60C3 and ATOM4K60C4 for use with Nikon cameras.
